I got up earlier on Saturday due to the fact I wanted to get into Ballroom 20 and the day before there was rumors that people waited in line for 5 hours and still did not get in. I arrive at the convention center at 8 a.m. which is 2 hours before the start of the first panel. I was far back but I was told I would get in. It was fun waiting in line because I became friends with the Asian couple next to me. We talked about TV shows and so I have some new ones I need to watch. We also talked about our Comic-Con experiences so far.
It was a little iffy if we would make it into the first panel which was Chuck. I ended up on the last row with my new friends. This is the panel where I fell in love with Zachary Levi. He just seemed like his the most humble and down to earth person. When he went to thank the fans for 5 seasons he got all choked up. He is adorable and hot at the same time. I think he is better looking in person.
After Chuck I was able to move up for the next panels. The next was was the pilot episode preview for Terra Nova. My thoughts on this new show are it is a cool story, the graphics are kind of cheesy, and you could tell when they used a green screen. I wouldn't say it is bad but I don't think it is one I am going to watch. I kind of forgot about seeing this until I looked at my schedule.
The next 4 panels were cartoons; Futurama, Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad. What I remember is not really enjoying these for a couple of reasons. 1- I don't watch any of the shows, 2 - they were kind of crude (I learned how to sign swear words), and 3 - I am concerned that people actually think these shows are funny.
Vampire Diaries was one of the main reasons why I decided to attend Comic-Con and it was finally time for the panel. I wanted to see the beautiful vampires. Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are just as beautiful in person. This was one of the funniest panels. The interactions between the actors is amazing. It seems like they have so much fun together and don't take themselves too seriously. I am so excited for the new season based on the clips they sent. One of the best is each actor is choose which team they are on. The Ian and Paul both choose each other. The best was Nina Dobrev choose Katherine. I am on team Damon. Have to love the bad boys and overacting.
At one point at this trip I was told I should not be allowed in the Fringe panel due to the fact that I still had 3 episodes to watch. They got lost on my DVR and I did not have time to watch before I went. I am so glad I did not listen to the stupid guy on the bus. The Fringe panel was great. They started out with other actors auditioning for the part of Peter and then at the very end Joshua Jackson was dressed as one of the white, bald guys who were black hats. This is the only thing they would tell us about the upcoming season. The audience asked a few questions but what was more important to the panel was they wanted to ask the audience questions. It was interesting to see what questions they asked the audience. You would really have to be a fan to know the answers. The other thing I found interesting was the rapport between the cast. John Noble and Joshua Jackson had their arms around each other and seemed to have a great relationship.
The final panel I went to was the pilot episode of Alcatraz. I am very excited for this show to start. I think the plot is very inventive and takes a totally different twist on the Rock. The plot is where the government did not really close the Rock but that everyone disappeared and now they are starting to show back up. This leads to the questions: Where did they go? and Who took them?
So side notes of Saturday. I met another Asian couple from New York. I could have attended the red carpet premier of Cowboys & Aliens with Nate for his website Comicbookmovie.com. I choose to stay and attend Vampire Diaries and Fringe. I am glad Mark got to attend with Nate. I think they had a blast. I went to dinner with the ladies and then went to bed once again with Isaac and Krew.
The next day was Sunday and I decided I was not going back. The only things I wanted to see were Glee and Castle. I knew I was going to have to get up really early if I wanted to attend Glee and I do like my sleep. I decided I was not going to go because it just wasn't worth it. Instead we went to breakfast and then Mark took my badge and went with Nate and the boys to see what it was like. The rest of us went and drove by the beach. It was so busy we decided to head to Old Town San Diego and since it was Sunday we decided to attend the Mormon Battalion historical site. I learned a lot. One of the most interesting things was the during their journey they learned irrigation techniques used when the Mormons settled in the Salt Lake Valley.
We then went to lunch. They all left for Las Vegas and I left for the airport.
Comic-Con 2011 was done. I can't wait for next year.

Comic-Con 2011 Day 2
I hope I remember clearly since it was over a month ago.
So since thing seemed to work out on Thursday at Comic-Con we decided to follow the same time line. BIG mistake. The plan was the boys were going to spend the day in one room alone since it has some cool panels they wanted to see and Nate and I were going to start the day in Ballroom 20. He was to move on to Hall H and I would just stay the day there again. When we started walking to get in the line for Ballroom 20 it was crazy long. It went down flight of stairs, many switch back tents, down more stairs, and all the way out to the pier. It was not worth it. It did mean that I missed the panel for Bones and The Big Bang Theory.
Nate and I went and grabbed the boys to try and get in line for the Star Trek: The Captains panel. We did not make this one because people love their Star Trek. Dalton was hilarious standing in line. He kept stepping over the line or sitting on the line. The workers kept getting after him. He became a person of interest. I think he also ate a ton of my gushers.
We finally made it into Ballroom 6BCF and the next panel was HALO. I have never even played Halo. I will admit I was bored and had no idea what they were talking about. I do know the talked about some anniversary thing. BORING. I am so not a gamer but it was worth it to get in the room because Legendary Pictures was up next. I did get to eat lunch during this time. Dalton ate the rest of the gushers at this point.
The next panel was Legendary Pictures and we were able to move up closer. So awesome. They introduced 4 films that they were planning on making. First, was Pacific Rim. The actors on the panel for this were Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, and Charlie Day. The director Guillermo Del Toro was also there and he had a mouth on him. The next film was The Seventh Son with Jeff Bridges. It was so awesome to see him. I love him it Stick It =). Paradise Lost was the next panel and who did they bring out BRADLEY COOPER! He is just as beautiful in person. It was interesting to find out when he heard they were making the film based on the epic poem he petitioned to be in the film and play the Devil. Finally the executive of Legendary Pictures told us there were making the film based on the game Mass Effect. It was interesting for them to tell the audience that they were going to take time and make the movie based on the game good and not like other movies based on the games. Then to the sway they gave out a limited addition Legendary Films car and the Mass Effect game for either Xbox or PS. WOW. Taylor was happy.
At this point I was going to take the boys to the room next door for the next panel and Nate was going to save my seat. They were previewing The Green Lantern cartoon and I was not really interested but wanted to go next door and see a preview of the new TV show The River. We stopped at the bathroom and I would like to note that the women's bathroom was so much faster then the men's. We went to get in the room and the line was long. I put the boys in line since they wanted to make sure they got into the next panel which was Thunder Cats and I went back to The Green Lantern. I had gotten a pass to come back in the room so I did not have to wait in line again. It was dark as I made my way back to Nate and my seat. I still can't believe that I found him. The lights came on and they talked about the new cartoon and how it was different. Then the fun began. They showed Conan O'Brien's Super Hero Alter Ego Cartoon and guess who shows up? Conan. He really is funny. He just wanted to make the fans happy. He gave hugs and made everyone laugh. One thing I thought was interesting is his security kept getting nervous. They passed out tickets for a chance to go and get Conan's autograph. I WON! I didn't go. Everyone asks way and my response is always what would I do with it.
Falling Skies was next. It was a new show this summer on TNT. It is like The Walking Dead but with aliens. It stars Noah Wylie, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Will Patton, Colin Cunningham, and Sarah Carter. This panel was awesome because it was full of spoilers and clips. Also, a typical response was "just watch the rest of the season and your question will be answered." It was also fun to see the actors personalities come out in the panel. Will Patton is very quiet and pensive. I also think they audience asked a lot of good questions like what quality do they admire in their character, where can this story go, why are the aliens here, how will this relationship develop. It was a very informative panel and one of the best of Comic-Con. They also gave out tickets for my favorite swag item. A black hoodie and on the back is the harness the aliens have attached to the children of earth. It is so awesome.
We were done for the day. We picked up our free stuff and then decided to go in the exhibition hall. It was so crazy in there. I bough one thing. A Superman t-shirt for my dad. I tried to find a hulk shirt because of his strength but there was none and I think my dad is Superman so that is why I picked that one. As you walk around people are just giving tons of stuff out. I got a super hero cap, bags, lanyards, and other items. If we willing to wait in line we could have received so many more things. We ended up in the gaming section. It was loud and sounded like a war zone. I will admit by this time I was completely done and ready to go. Nate and the boys were in a preview session and I have to say the minutes they were in there were the longest of the day.
That night we ate and the hotel and I was ready for bed. Mark, Jamie, Diane and Steph came that night. I went to bed with the boys.

Comic-Con 2011
Where: San Diego

Who: Me, Nate, Griffin, and Dalton (other family members were in Cali but not at Comic-Con)
Why: Cause the nerd in me wanted to go
July 20th
I decided to fly to San Diego instead of drive down with Nate and Steph. It was nice because it only took an hour and a half instead of 9-10 hour drive. Once I arrived I took a shuttle over to Handlery Hotel to check in. It was fun cause everyone in my shuttle were all there for Comic-Con for the first time. We were all really excited.
I had the whole day to myself to do nothing and enjoy myself. So I took a nap. Woke up had lunch by the pool. Took another nap. Read a book. By then it was dinner time and so I walked to the local mall. As I was walking I passed off site registration for Comic-Con. It was CRAZY. The line was wound outside as well as through a whole ballroom. Glad I was waiting for tomorrow to register. So the mall was the best mall I have been in. It had everything. I just people watched and ate dinner. When I got back to the hotel I went to the pool had a strawberry daiquiri and enjoyed the live music. Very relaxing. I returned to my room to watched TV and go to bed so I could be ready for the next day.
July 21st
The FIRST day. I was so excited. Nate and I had our schedules all planned and Griff and Dalt were ready to go. We lucked out and off site registration no one was there. We quickly got our badges and the huge Comic-Con bags. Mine had Fringe on the bag. We headed over to the San Diego Conference Center and to see the mass of people just made me even more excited. As we walked in I loved seeing all the people, the costumes, and the excitement of all the people. It was so great.
My day was going to be spent in Ballroom 20. Nate and the boys went off to other areas so I was alone. It was so fun to talk to the people around me in line. One lady talked about all her different travels. Another was talking about pre-registration for the next year and how she ended up crying. Once I entered the room Burn Notice was in the middle of their panel. Bruce Campbell was there. He was really funny. I only saw about the last 10 minutes.
Next on the schedule was Covert Affairs. I was able to move up seats and ended up sitting in the front third of the huge ballroom. I do watch this show regularly. Mainly it is the hope of seeing Christopher Gorham's abs. If you have not seen them it is worth a look. This was my very first panel and it just made me even more excited to be there. Some things I learned were they tease Christopher Gorham about his character Auggie's abs. Also, I enjoyed him talking about playing a blind character. It was very interesting. I also enjoyed them talking about the different locations in which they traveled. It wasn't just sets.
Psych was up next. This is one of my favorite shows. A show about a fake psychic detective what more could you ask for. The panel was so funny. It started out with the Friendly Indians preforming the theme song "I Know, You Know." Then the cast came out and sang with them. One of the things I enjoyed was seeing the people behind the characters. These people were funny. Dule Hill and James Roday are one of a kind. Some of the things they talked about were how the pineapple became a part of every episode, Juliet's belief in Shawn, the relationship between Shawn and his dad, and how Gus and Shawn really do need each other. One thing the producer brought up is how the show is a comedy but it deals with crime and murder every week. He talked about how this show is successful because they were able to combine humor and crime in a perfect balance of comedy. This panel had me laughing non stop.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is back on TV in Ringer. This show is kind of a mystery. There are twins, a husband, a lover, and a detective. All nice looking males played by Ioan Gruffudd, Kristoffer Polaha, and Nestor Carbonell. All nice to look at. The could not give much away about the show but there are a few things I realized. Ioan's accent is attractive and he decided to do the show because he could were contemporary clothes instead of superhero spandex and period clothes. Sarah Michelle Gellar is awesome. During the audience question she misunderstood a question and the rest of the panel she made fun of herself. She seemed so real, like someone you would want to hang out with. It was nice to see someone who is famous not take themselves seriously.
The final panel I went to was for Games of Thrones. I have no idea what the show is or what it was about. The only thing I came out with is that Jason Mamoa is scary. I would not want to run into him on the street. His eyes have the look of I want to kill.
Nate and the boys were ready to leave so I met them outside. We then went to the redemption room to cash in my swag tickets. I received the following:

The other things I learned on my first day were one security guard directs people to unknown places if they annoyed him, there were 7,000 people waiting to get into Ballroom 20, and I love free stuff. The other thing I learned is the people at Comic-Con are so nice. I got to know the people I was sitting with. We were all alone so it was nice to talk to others. I shared my candy and pears.
So it takes a long time to write about each day so I will add the next 3 days and pictures soon.

What Bentley Really Is
So I am addicted to the Bachlorette this season. It is only episode 3 and my oh my the drama. I thought women were worse but I may have to rethink my stance because 1- Bentley is a DRAMA KING, 2- Guy in mask, 3- William's bragging, 4- JP pouting over a coin toss, and 5- at any point I expect a fist fit over whose date was better.
So the real reason I am writing this blog is because I have decided that Bentley has the Utah dating syndrome. Many may not agree with my opinion but here is what I am seeing in the dating scene here in Salt Lake City and the LDS culture and how it translates to what Bentley did on the Bachlorette.

- The grass is greener mentality. In the Utah dating scene guys are always saying they do not want to settle down or date someone specific because what if there is someone who is better looking, is nicer, has bigger boobs or skinner, is more spiritual, they have more fun with, they can cook, drives a better car, has more money, kisses better, etc. That is exactly what Bentley did. He saw the greener grass in the form of Emily and never even gave Ashley a real chance.
- The selfish mentality. Bentley was more concerned with his hair then with making Ashley cry. I will admit that I kind of laughed at that comment but it was a real jerky thing to say. So here in Utah I am finding that the guys are more interested in what they want to do or how they feel than any girl they are dating. Their time is very important and they just want to have fun. They will put their wants before any girl's they are dating. Basically, their main interest is themselves.
- It is all a game. To Bentley it was just a game to see if he could win the rose and make her like him the most. It worked. The minute he didn't win the rose and knew that she was in the palm of his hand he was ready to bail. It is the thrill of the chase. How many times have I heard from guys they liked the fact that the girl was a challenge and once he had won their interest he just was not interested anymore. Guys love the game of dating just like Bentley like the game of winning a rose.
- They tell you want to hear. To quote Bentley he said that he spoke to Ashley like she was a girl he was into. He then lied and said he was leaving because of this daughter. Of course she would accept this answer. He also left it as dot dot dot. WHAT?!?! Why tell her that when you have no interest. In Utah what I see is guys just say anything to make it easier for themselves. They tell a girl they will ask them out but never do. Say sweet words for a make out. Appease the person until the something better comes along because they don't want to be bored. ALL LIES!
- Finally, they just don't treat women right. Bentley treated Ashley like she was nothing. NO ONE deserves to be treated in such a horrible manner but in the dating scene in SLC it happens all the time. Guys do not step up and treat women the way they should. Women are not important to them and it shows. Where are the gentlemen? I think ever boy should get a copy of the book How to be a Gentleman.

Turning 30!
I did NOT want to turn 30. I wanted to fight it, kick, scream, turn back time, etc. After much analyzation I think it not the number is but where I am in life. I just didn't think I would be where I am.

New Favorite Commercials
I am currently watching the Yankees playing the Red Sox and saw these commercials. Who knew I would find a reason to not like John Krasinski and love Alec Baldwin

Cinco de Mayo
What a great holiday! I love it cause I get to eat Mexican food. So food is really what the holiday means to me because I really have no idea the history or what people are really celebrating.
So along with this quick message about the holiday I have a funny story.
I was sitting at my computer at work getting excited about Cinco de Mayo and wondering how I was going to fit in Mexican food on my busy day. Then a light bulb appeared over my head as I figured out what Cinco de Mayo meant. May 5th. It was such a let down. For years I loved how Cinco de Mayo sounded very Spanish and cool. I loved to celebrated the holiday every year. I loved a reason to eat Mexican Food. Then to discover the name of the holiday is just the date in Spanish I had to just laugh at myself. Then I told Kendra and she laughed at me as well. Come to think of it everyone I told got a good laugh.
Lesson: learn Spanish because this is not the first time I don't know what people are saying when the speak in Spanish. I even think some of what people are saying I should know.
